Welcome to Signal to Alpha, your essential market briefing. I'm Lady Muriel, cutting through the noise to deliver what moves markets today. Let's get you your alpha before the opening bell. Here's your rundown for Tuesday, October twenty-seventh. UBS says the AI trade's free pass on valuation is over. Meta is raising ninety-five billion dollars with chipmakers lining up to buy in. And Goldman Sachs just took a hatchet to its Korea forecast. Let's dig in. Start with the valuation story, because it ties everything together this morning. UBS strategist Michel Lerner says artificial intelligence stocks have historically ignored normal valuation math, but with interest rates elevated, that free pass is ending. Expensive multiples finally matter again. He's telling clients to diversify beyond tech, even pointing to opportunities in the U.K. market. That view got backup from Baird's Ted Mortonson, a dot-com survivor who bluntly told investors buying this tech dip is, quote, taking a knife to a gunfight, unquote. His advice: watch for sideways action rather than chasing a bounce. Now the receipts on that caution. Goldman Sachs slashed its twelve-month price target for South Korea's Kospi index by twenty-five percent, from twelve thousand down to nine thousand, after the index fell forty percent from its summer peak. Here's the twist: Goldman's Asia strategist Tim Moe is still bullish, seeing sixty percent upside from the new target. The Kospi matters because it's a leading indicator for the global AI trade, and semiconductor stocks make up nearly a fifth of the S and P five hundred. Worth watching at the open. Against that backdrop, Meta is doubling down. The company is raising roughly ninety-five billion dollars through stock offerings, including a thirty-five billion dollar common and preferred share sale to fund AI infrastructure. And here's the interesting wrinkle: Nvidia, A M D, and Broadcom have expressed interest in collectively buying up to five billion dollars of those Meta shares, essentially chip suppliers investing in their own customer. Meta shares were up two percent premarket. Capital expenditures for 2026 are now guided at up to one hundred forty-five billion dollars. Elsewhere, Elon Musk says SpaceX closed a forty billion dollar debt deal to buy GPUs for its neocloud business, renting AI chip access to other companies. Musk credited SpaceX's investment-grade credit rating, and the news pressured shares of AI rivals. One bright spot: SoFi Technologies popped on earnings, beating on revenue and profit, adding a record one point two million new members. Shares jumped on an upbeat twenty twenty-seven forecast. Quick crypto check: Bitcoin is trading around eighty thousand two hundred seventeen dollars, Ethereum near two thousand three hundred thirty-two dollars. And here's your line to carry into the day: how many people wake up ready to hunt, versus how many just show up hoping something finds them? That's your Signal to Alpha for today.
